Controversial Insights From Paris Fashion Week

The Paris Fashion Week raised the curtains this week, and dozens of celebrities are in town to witness the top fashion designers’ spring/summer 2023 collections. This event paves way for the upcoming fashion trends this year. But certain designer runway outfits stood out for disturbing reasons. The perception of fashion in the Paris Fashion Week(1) S23 has got mixed reviews.

The event became quickly controversial as models walked the runway in ultra-realistic animal head-adorned dresses. The daring fashion moments have stirred up fashion enthusiasts. Fashion enthusiasts have raised queries regarding animal-inspired outfits and the perception behind them. Some fashion fans argued that the designs promote trophy hunting.

Schiaparelli’s Spring 2023 Haute Couture

Schiaparelli’s animal-inspired outfits were considered disturbing to most of the attendees. Model Shalom Harlow walked the runway in a white leopard-print dress with a realistic replica of the animal head on the bodice. The dress looked too real to believe. The designer has used hand-painted wool and silk to create a real fur-like impression.

PETA shared their comments through Instagram that these Schiaparelli looks made everyone talk about the horrors of trophy hunting, which murdered wild animals and tear families apart. They also asked to consider real animals like sheep and silkworms who died for this runway. Activists protested outside and urged designers to go vegan.

Then, Irina Shayk wore a black gown with a massive, faux lion head. Her dress is in the asymmetrical, single-sleeved model. Naomi Campbell came along in a sported jacket covered in fur-like material with a replica of a black wolf’s head fixed at her shoulder. She adorned a straight hairstyle and bold makeup.

Daniel Roseberry, the fashion designer, wrote in the collection notes that the animal designs were meant to rejoice in the glory of nature and the woman who wore them. Schiaparelli said that the wolf, lion, and leopard designs were created to represent the lust, pride, and avarice in Dante’s iconic allegory. Dante Alighieri is an Italian poet. It was inspired by Dante’s The Divine Comedy.

Kylie Jenner, founder of Kylie Cosmetics also adorned her in a Schiaparelli design. Her photos were quickly met with comments about the poor taste of fashion.

Some models commented that it was sickening to see the images of these endangered animals in the form of pelts. Pelts are a symbol of human cruelty and ignorance. The beauty of these magnificent animals is when they are roaming freely and alive in their natural homes. This is one huge fashion faux.

Other celebrities, praised these daring designs and came in support of Kylie Jenner.

The rest of Schiaparelli’s Spring 2023 collection focused on metallic fabrics, neutral shades, and sharp silhouettes. The runway brought everything from quilted jackets with sharp shoulder pads to strapless gowns. Other standout runway looks featured structural, strapless tops that hid the faces of the models partially.

The Schiaparelli show wouldn’t have been complete without the brand’s evergreen anatomical statement accessories. Lastly, the fashion house embraced audacious trends with a couple of see-through looks.

Doja Cat’s Inferno Look

Nearly 5 hours were spent making Doja Cat’s Paris Fashion Week look. Pat McGrath and Daniel Roseberry made Doja Cat(2) the cherry on top for the Paris Fashion Week.

The Singer is exclusively known for her daring and bold fashion styles. Without any surprise, Doja Cat stepped onto the floor in sparking red ruby crystals.

Her grand entrance with 30,000 Swarovski crystals studded on her body, draped in a red silk bustier, and a skirt with wooden beads was indeed mind-boggling. Long red boots and studded drop-red earrings added to the sharp look. Her shocking makeup was done by Pat McGrath. She appreciated Doja Cat for her sublime patience and dedication to bring out the complete look just as they visioned. The final look was breathtaking, mesmerizing and a magical masterpiece.

The red-hot look stood out amongst the crowd but also made sense. Her photographs were stunning and fans were thrilled to the core.
