Jenna Ortega Spills Exciting Details on Wednesday Season 2

The ‘Wednesday’ actress Jenna Ortega spoke about the prequel during the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday. The actress spilled the beans during the red carpet pre-show where she opened up about the script for the upcoming second season of the much-awaited supernatural horror flick.

Jenna Ortega Is Back As Wednesday Addams

Wednesday, which took the world by storm in 2022, was the breakthrough chapter in Jenna’s career, catapulting her to new heights of success. Jenna, who is turning to be a producer for the forthcoming season, will be reprising her role as Wednesday Addams. When the host asked her about the second season of the movie, the 21-year-old said that for this season, the makers are” leaning a little bit more to horror.” describing her excitement for the prequel, Jenna said that her character will need to take “a bit of an arc” throughout the show. 

She further added that “everything will be bigger’” in the forthcoming season, adding that it will have some “really good one-liners”. And it’s packed with a lot more action. I think, this time, each episode will be like a movie.” 

Earlier this year, Jenna had hinted about the second season saying it will witness a departure from romance. However, the show fans did not expect that the season would focus more on the horror factor. She had also previously remarked that the first season of the show was so “lighthearted” that even with the combination of protagonists including the “werewolves, vampires, and superpowers, it was not too serious. According to the budding star, that is the reason why the makers thought of leaning more into the horror elements in the second season. From what she has said, it is apparent that the show is going to dismiss any “romantic love interest” for her character. 

For her role in the Netflix series, the Emmy-nominated actress received much recognition and popularity and bagged a lot of accolades for her portrayal of the protagonist.  Jenna was highly appreciated for the incredible performance she delivered in Lady Gaga’s song titled, “Bloody Mary.” Her portrayal of the character has not only won her critical acclaim but also made the industry realize her potential as an actress as she used the platform to completely showcase her dedication to maintaining the character’s authenticity. 

“I do not think I have worked more on any other project as I did for Wednesday,” she said about the challenges she had to overcome while filming for the series. 

Wednesday premiered on the streaming platform on November 16, 2022, and immediately within three weeks of its release, became the second most-watched English-language show on Netflix. The show received unmatched love from the viewers due to its unique blend of humor, mystery, and supernatural elements. This particular combination of different elements has left a unique place in the hearts of the viewers and ever since they have been waiting for the next season.

The Jenna Ortega-led show bagged three nominations in the recently concluded Emmy Awards, including one for Jenna for Outstanding Lead Actress In Comedy for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams, one for Netflix for Outstanding Comedy Series, and the last one for Tim Burton for Outstanding Direction for a Comedy Series.
