Singer-songwriter Cat Janice has written a song titled Dance You Outta My Head for her son, Laren, to keep her memory alive while also urging TikTok users to watch it so that her son may benefit from the money that the song generates once she’s gone.

The Song Is Expected To Support Janice’s 7-Year-Old In The Future

She co-wrote the song with her 7-year-old son for whom she has left all the rights of the song. “I do not have much to leave behind for him,” Janice confessed.

“She signed royalties over to her son for his future,’ Donna M.C. wrote on X.

She released the song on her birthday, Jan. 19, and days later, she realized that the song had placed at No.1 in Romania, the Czech Republic, and Ireland, No. 7 on iTunes globally, and No. 12 in the United States. On Spotify, the song has bagged more than 5 million streams.

“I woke up hearing the beep sound of the med pump, but I happened to check my phone only to witness the absolute miracle of God,” she wrote on Instagram. She further noted that through the success of her song, God is showing her ‘his power and incredible master of peace.”

The 31-year-old musical artist was diagnosed with a rare condition called sarcoma, a malignant tumor, in 2021. She has chronicled her journey being a cancer patient live on her social media accounts. Earlier last week, the Washington, DC musician announced via her Instagram handle that she would. be entering hospice soon as the cancer had progressed to the point where she would not be able to use her voice anymore.

According to a close rep, Janice is going through a bittersweet period where her tumor has grown from the local DC scene to the global stage, where the tumor will also grow in her lungs.

On Jan 10, she was hospitalized following breathing issues and according to an inner source, the doctor suggested she enter hospice at home. Afterward, she immediately transferred the ownership of her recently released song in the name of her son.

In one of her last interviews, she said that the idea of the song came into her mind during last spring when the mother and son were ‘bopping around in the car” while enjoying the warm weather outside.

Janice was declared cancer-free in 2022, after radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. However, by June 2023, she was again diagnosed with the same. In a statement, she described how dancing on the edge of disasters makes her heart beat faster.

Throughout her career, she has bagged numerous awards including WAMMY (Washington Region Music Award) in 2019 for the category of Best Rock Artist in the DC metropolitan region. Her tune Pricey was used in the well-acclaimed Netflix show, Selling Sunset in 2020.
