Ex-Mandalorian Actress Carano Strikes Back At Disney With Musk’s Might

MMA fighter and actress Gina Carano has filed a lawsuit against entertainment giants Disney and Lucasfilm for discrimination and wrongful termination in a lawsuit supported by Elon Musk as a part of his quest to ensure the promise of protecting users from discrimination due to their posts on X.

A Short Time In A Galaxy Not So Far Away

Carano filed the lawsuit in California Federal Court, alleging she was fired for not supporting a specific ideology that the entertainment giant had asked her to. The plaintiff argues that she was unjustly fired for sharing right-wing opinions through social media. 

She portrayed Cara Dune in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ show that tells the story of a vagrant Mandalorian and an orphaned Yoda. 

Elon Musk has shown his support for Carano in her legal battles, fulfilling the promise of protecting his users from discrimination due to their posts on his platform.

The head of business operations, Joe Benarroch, has revealed that they will stand with the victims of discrimination, uphold free speech rights on X, and ensure they can work and live without bullying and harassment.

Carano was expelled from Lucasfilm for a tweet in which she compared the isolation faced by the Jews in the initial harassment by Nazi forces to the ideological isolation faced by the Republicans. She further elaborated that the first step Nazis took in eradicating Jews was making her Neighbors hate them.

After filing a lawsuit against the entertainment giants, she expressed that her words were twisted and that they demonized her as an extremist who spewed conspiracy theories that destroyed her character and credibility.

The complaint alleges that Lucasfilm forced her to conform to their ideologies, like sharing the same viewpoints on black lives matter, preference in using pronouns, and her theories. 

She also pointed out that her male co-stars had offensively defamed Republicans without any consequences.

She shared an example of such behavior by bringing up Padro Pascal’s 2017 tweet, which compares Donald Trump to Hitler.

The lawsuit also gives us a recap of the firing and further actions the conglomerate took from her point of view. At the beginning of the controversy, they forced her to apologize to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance publicly. Even pressuring her agent to make her apologize.

When she flatly refused such a demand, they invited her to meet the president of Lucasfilm along with 45 employees who identify as LGBTQ+. Carano was terminated from the show and subsequent roles that were promised to her within the same cinematic universe shortly after she rejected the invitation.

She is demanding claims for wrongful discharge and sex discrimination, asking for recasting her back into the show and paying about $75,000 as punitive damage.

She expressed that she was thankful to X’s executives for choosing her case as a prominent one in questioning the discriminatory behavior for merely asking questions and sharing their theories.

Elon Musk tweeted in support of Carano and asked for other such plaintiffs to come out to fight against the Entertainment giant. 

The 52-year-old billionaire has been in a constant war with Disney since they decided to stop advertising on X after Elon Musk acquired it and he advocated free speech by limiting controls which sparked controversy.
