New Supergirl revealed DCU

On Monday, James Gunn, the CEO of DC Studios announced that Milly Alcock will slip into the shoes of DC Universe’s next superhero character by playing the Woman of Steel.  Although Milly is well known for her role in HBO’s widely acclaimed series titled, ‘House of Dragon,’ her fans are expecting the forthcoming project as her career break. In the DC picture titled ‘Superman: Legacy,’ Milly will be playing a character named Kara Zor-El or the Supergirl.

The character is said to be a combination of Krypnotite’s vulnerability and Superman’s skills. Kara is depicted as Superman’s cousin. Kara is thought to be a space traveler who ends up on Earth after her home planet gets destroyed. When she arrives on Earth, she realizes that her cousin (Superman) has grown up to be a hero. She eventually accepts herself as a Supergirl by quickly mastering her superhero skills.

The ‘ Vampire Diaries’ alum Ana Nogueira, 38, joined the team in November to write the Screenplay for the DCU project. The director is yet to be decided.

Dropping the casting details on Instagram, Gunn shared a list of actors that included the name of Milly Alcock, hinting that she is going to play a special part in the film. Calling Milly” a fantastically talented young actor,’ Gunn wrote in the caption that she is apt to play the role of Kara as envisioned by Ana Nogueira, Bilquis Evely, and Tom King. He further added that although he “first became aware of her in HBO’s House of Dragon,” she mesmerized the entire team with her “varied auditions and screen tests for Supergirl. I am incredibly excited for Milly to be a part of the DCU,” he concluded. Along with her, actors Meg Donnelly, and Emilia Jones were also considered for the role. But, she outshined both of them in the auditions with her incredible performance.

Gunn, who disclosed Milly’s casting as Supergirl, has not revealed the date of her debut aka, the date of release. However, it is expected to be released by the end of 2024.

In addition to Milly’s Kara, viewers will also get to see the 23-year-old Australian actress in the cosmic adventure film titled ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’ The movie is based on a twelve-part comic mini-series written by Bilquis Evely and Tom King and Tom King under the same name. It is one of the five movies announced for film producer Peter Safran and James’ DCU.

The Australian actor began her career as an actor in an Australian television series before landing her big break role in HBO’s Game of Thrones. She received much love and appreciation for the role she played in the prequel series. She is still remembered to be the actress who played the Targaryen princess. According to the reports, she stole the attention of other actors just with her presence in the first five episodes.
