DA Fani Willies is a single mother of two daughters. Fani was married once to Fred Willies but was divorced later. They got married in 1996 during their time at Harvard University.
Married Life And The Divorce That Followed
Fani first met her ex-husband Fred Willies while he was working an extra job as a videographer, on the day of her bar exam. This relationship ended in a marriage in November 1996, soon after she graduated from Emory in the same May. The marriage played a crucial role in the professional growth of Fani helping her grow into a prominent legal personality in Fulton County.
However, the decade-long relationship ended with a divorce in 2005 due to the personal challenges they had to encounter. Even though the romantic relationship ended with the divorce, the decision didn’t stop them from being dedicated parents to their two daughters. The divorce also didn’t stop Fani from growing in her profession as well.
Fani: A Single Working Mother
Fani who has worn many titles in her life, has stated her favorite among all those is being the Mommy for her daughters. She once wrote on Facebook that she likes this life where she holds many titles such as Attorney, Counselor, Ms., Divorcée, Boss, Friend, Companion, and Madam DA. She also admits that the Mommy title is her favorite. Fani’s daughters have always played a crucial role in her life narrative. They have witnessed her evolve into a leading legal figure.
Once, when asked about her husband she said that he has two nice legs, which produced her two beautiful daughters. This is the reason that made her stay in Atlanta.
Fani said she has been a single mother for most of her career. Her daughters have been her inspiration to work and achieve heights. She got divorced when her children were very young. During an interview, Fani shared a memory of her daughters sleeping on the couch in her office as she prepared for her trials.
The names and details of her daughters are not revealed to protect their privacy. According to the reports, one of her daughters is 24 years old and is pursuing journalism at a university.
Afrocentric, Black Panther Father
Willis proudly introduced her father, John Clifford Floyd as a Blank Panther. He was a leading lawyer in Washington DC. he has influenced her throughout her life. Floyd was an Afrocentric person, who always held on to his roots. He said he would only pay his money to a historically black college or university, which led her to Harvard.
Floyd taught his daughter to be an independent woman from a very young age. He always reminds Willis that everyone is entitled to dignity, a value that she tries to hold on to and pass on to others.
Willis’ Current Relationship
Willis is currently in a relationship with Nathan Wade, a public prosecutor in Fulton County, Georgia. He is a licensed attorney in Georgia, who gained popularity because of his recent appointment as a special public prosecutor.
