Dolly Parton Rules Out The Idea Of Retirement

The 77-year-old country singer decides not to retire from her career anytime soon. She considers music her biggest strength and is not ready to part ways with it. Parton would rather die on stage than wind up her career.

No Plans to Retire

The greatest country star is not interested in giving up her “9 to 5”. During her latest appearance in an interview, Dolly Parton declared that she has no retirement plans. She said she would rather spend her whole life performing than opting for retirement. The singer also added that she is not someone who would sit around and do nothing. 

In the interview, Parton declared that she would never retire. She would rather die on stage while singing a song than retire from her career. She also desires that the song would hopefully be something she wrote. This statement rules out all the possible chances of the country star retiring anytime soon.

But Parton also talks about some of the reasons that might convince her to retire. She talks about her health being in a good condition. Parton said that as long as she can work, her husband’s as well as her health is good she wouldn’t think about retiring. She considers these three reasons as the only possible ways that could stop or slow down her career.

Parton said that she has so many dreams and new dreams come up every day, adding that it is a partial reason why she is not ready to retire. She believed that if people have dreams then they must be responsible for the dreams and keep them alive. Parton then talked about her future aspirations of starting her network television show, as well as her own makeup and wig lines. 

The rockstar who has already stopped performing live shows declared that she would never tour again. However, she is actively involved with her songs and music production. 

The Retirement Rumors

The rumors regarding Parton’s retirement have been a recurring thing in the music industry. The country star has ruled out her retirement rumors in 2009 when she was 63. Then, during an interview, she stated that the music business was not what it used to be. She said that after a certain age, people think others are over. But she declared that she would never be over, ruling down the retirement. Even after these many years, she has proven it to be true, overcoming all the hurdles and barriers.

Last year, in an interview Parton mentioned her plans of not conducting tours anymore. She said that she has no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore. She started doing tours at a very young age and said that she has done it her whole life. She talked about the time and energy consumed by it. She declared that she likes to stay a little closer to her home and husband, hence, would be up to shows, “here and there”.

The country music legend is all set to release her 49th solo studio album “Rockstar” in this November. She began her music journey by writing her first song at the age of 5 and conducted her first show at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry when she was 13. Ever since then, she has been an iconic figure in the field with 53 Grammy Award nominations, four Emmy Award nominations, and one Tony Award nomination.

She has opened a Dollywood Theme Park and launched The Dollywood Foundation. The foundation has been a great blessing to many lives. She started a book-gifting program, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library through the foundation. Also, Parton funded the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.
