Kate Middleton’s Pre-Royal Glamour Video On Tik-tok Brings Nostalgia To Aughties Folks

January 9th marked the 42nd birthday of the royal princess Kate Middleton and even though the princess of Wales kept the celebrations private, her fans celebrated her pre-royal style and glamour on her birthday. 

This online celebration gathered the folks of the aughties when a TikTok video surfaced featuring a montage of Kate’s early 20s life. And let’s just say the Nostalgia hit hard as Kate was seen sporting groovy outfits that made her an “IT-Girl” that every aughties girl can relate to. The video amassed a whopping 4.5 million views on TikTok.

The Tik-Tok video posted by a fan page @jusst_tiktokss captioned, “Kate Middleton before royalty (a lot of partying with William).” The video featured a groovy remix of ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight).”

The video featured some of the “not-so-royal” clips from back in the day in which Kate is seen dancing with William in a club, wearing sequin dresses. At one point, Kate was seen wearing UGG boots, which were like a fashion staple back then. 

In one shot, Kate is pictured wearing a green sequin halter top with neon yellow shorts to the Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco charity event in September 2008. It was giving “Aughties Barbie”. In another shot, she is wearing a black and white cheetah print kinda midi dress with a black overcoat. Boy! Those times were wild. 

“Kate enjoying her youthfulness and now she’s a grown-up, so she has obviously matured,” penned a TikTok user in the comments, while another fan added, “They were having the best days of their lives. Just like any of us here during college.”

Kate met William at the University of St. Andrew’s in Scotland(1) and they dated for almost a decade before William got down on one knee. They got engaged in Kenya in 2010 and got married in April 2011. 

During their 2010 engagement interview, Kate opened up about being shy when she met William. “I think you said I actually went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off,” she said to William. “[I was] feeling very shy about meeting you.”

From there the couple became close friends and found they share a lot of the same interests. “We were friends for over a year first,” William said in the same interview. “It just sort of blossomed from then on.”
