Quiet On Sets: New Documentary Reveals the Uncomfortable Acts Of Dan Schneider During Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show

The Sunday debut, “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” explores the atrocities young actors endured in the 1990s and early 2000s. The four-part documentary “exposes” the scandalized television producer Dan Schneider’s inappropriate behavior. Schneider was initially charged with misbehavior in 2018. The allegation of sexual exploitation of multiple adult and child actors from popular television programs such as “All That” and “The Amanda Show” is made public by the true crime series Investigation Discovery.

The Accusations Against Dan Schneider

Dan Schneider has faced several allegations of being abusive to stars and of creating toxic work environments on the sets of the Nickelodeon show. Schneider has faced allegations from several former child stars alleging he was verbally abusive, partial towards some stars, and misbehaved towards the child stars. These allegations have been circulating for years as many former child actors and business insiders have spoken out against him. Schneider and the network split in 2018, however, Nickelodeon did not reveal a reason for the announcement.

Recently a leaked video, which is believed to have been shot in 2002 is being circulated on the internet as it was included in the new documentary, “Quiet On Set”. The video shows the 16-year-old Amanda Bynes in a bikini sitting close to Schneider, who is 20 years older than her in a hot tub. Dan was fully dressed and sat inches away from Amanda. The video suggests that the script for the video was written by Schneider himself. Commentators have commented that the video is disturbing and “very uncomfortable”.
The culture writer, Scaachi Koul shared that in the video featuring Amanda and Schneider, Schneider was clearly saying that he created the situation and he was the reason why they were sitting in the hot tub. He also said that he was pulling the strings. Koul commented that during those days people might have found it comedy, but now people are “really uncomfortable” with the implication.

The Rumors On Amanda And Schneider

There have been accusations of favoritism against Dan Schneider, and now some sources are coming forward with statements that seem to support those claims. As per insiders, Schneider’s preferred star was Amanda Bynes, particularly after her rise to popularity from ‘The Amanda Show’. Nearly immediately after joining the network, Bynes became Schneider’s “new favorite” Nickelodeon star, despite claims from others that they were “edged out.”

Leon Frierson, former “All That” star mentioned that Amanda went missing from the set several times and they came to know that she was with Dan, “pitching ideas and writing”. He also said that Amanda and Dan grew closer to one another on the sets. 

The editor of several Nickelodeon shows, Karyn Finley Thompson shared how Amanda and Dan grew close over time and claimed that they saw Amanda sitting behind Dan, hugging him and giving him neck massages comfortably on the sets. She also said that the two had a close relationship, but the hot tub scene was a little odd.

Dan Breaks The Silence After The Accusations

Dan Schneider broke his silence after the new documentary accused him of being sexually abusive and of creating a toxic environment on the sets. In his statement, Dan said that everything on the shows was carefully scrutinized by dozens of involved adults and was approved by them. He said that if there were any inappropriate scenes or sexualizing as mentioned by some people after all these years, then they would have been removed. He also stated that there are no such sexualizing things in the show and that it is being aired even today as it is enjoyed by both kids and parents.

Dan further said that the stories, dialogues, and scripts were fully approved by network executives on two coasts. He also mentioned the constant presence of parents and caregivers on the sets, suggesting that any inappropriate acts would have been flagged and blocked by them. Dan concluded his statement by mentioning that some adults are projecting their adult minds onto kids’ shows, making false accusations about them.

Despite Dan’s statements, there have been several accusations against him by parents and former child artists over all these years.
