Michael Jackson’s Ex-Wife Died After Second Cardiac Arrest

On Thursday, Lisa Marie Presley died after a second cardiac arrest. The singer was hospitalized the same day for the same reason. What is the real cause of her demise is yet to be revealed as a toxicology report is pending. It is said that she had a history of heart disease in her ancestral line. Doctors found this as a strong factor in her untimely demise. Initially, she was marked brain dead after her hospitalization on Thursday. The first action by the doctors was that she was in an induced coma and on life support.

As she was pronounced brain dead, family members signed a DNR (do not resuscitate) order, in case there was no response from her side. A DNR order is created when an emergency happens, it gives you a choice to get CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) or not when the heart stops breathing.

Her ex-husband Danny Keough first administered CPR which made her responsive and later on taken to the hospital where the turmoil of events assembled.

Tracing back to her father, who died at the age of 42, Elvis Presley was cardiac arrhythmia with ventricular fibrillation. In simple terms, it meant that the heart beats abnormally and then stopped all of a sudden.

Factors reported on Elvis Presely’s death were an enlarged heart, clogging of the coronary arteries, and increased blood pressure. Elvis Presley had a strong addiction to opiates which made the sole reason for his death when her daughter Lisa was 9 years old.

Elvis’s mother Gladys Love Presley also died at the early age of 46 for the same reason i.e heart failure. Grandfather of Lisa Marie Presley, Vernon Presley though died at the age of 63 but the reason was cardiac arrest. Though heart failure and cardiac arrest are different both died due to problems with the heart. Heart failure is when there is a failure of blood pumping throughout the body as that is the main function of the heart. Whereas cardiac arrest is a medical condition when the heart stops beating.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had commented that in a family with a history of heart disease, the future generation might manifest heart disease in different forms. According to the Mayo Clinic, the presence of a family history of any heart disease makes a person more prone to artery disease especially if it was developed at a young age. Heart disease at an early age is a symptom of hypercholesterolemia, a genetic disorder that can be fatal.
