Meryl Streep And Martin Short Has Dinner in LA After Romance Denial

Meryl Streep, 74, and Martin Short, 73, aren’t letting the rumors decide what they should do with their lives. The two are spending quality time together without giving any explanation for their multiple public outings. On Wednesday, February 21, the most celebrated co-stars of all time were spotted together enjoying an Italian dinner at restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California.

Short and Streep were all smiles as they left the restaurant. For the night out. Streep donned a burgundy sweater over a bright pink top and paired it with jeans, while Short wore a dark t-shirt with a black jacket and a gray collared sweater. 

Earlier this month, Short shut the dating rumors swirling around them during an episode of ‘Club Random with Bill Maher.” 

“We are not a couple. We are just good friends,” Short said denying the rumors. However, neither Maher nor their fans could accept the big ‘No’ he said in response to the question Maher asked regarding the dating speculations. Following the denial, Maher was doing everything possible to hear the answer the world was eagerly waiting for. To put his point, he even used examples of the power couples in Hollywood including Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie, and Timothee Chamalet and Kylie Jenner.

After naming three couples, Maher continued his unified theory of power couples by stressing the names of Timothee and Kylie. As soon as Short heard the name of Kylie, he interrupted and said jokingly “I know what you are saying, but they will last. He even remarked that he would recheck his beliefs regarding love and relationships if the two split sometime in the future. With that, the discussion on Streep and Short was over and Maher continued to ask Short more about his career plans. 

The esteemed actors showcased incredible on-screen and off-screen chemistry throughout their careers urging their fans to speculate something was cooking between them. However, the rumors began to swirl when the two were spotted getting very close at the 2024 Golden Globes in January. 

While Short has done his part by addressing the matter and denying any dating rumors publicly, the internet is desperately holding hopes to see the two romantically linked to each other. 

“Meryl Streep and Martin Short dating si my new Roman empire, “ an X user wrote, while another one chimed in “Sitting with the knowledge that Short and Streep are dating, but I have no proof.’ 

Meanwhile, a rep for Streep shared that Streep and her husband of 45 years had separated. The news has strengthened the rumor in some way. Short, on the other hand, is single as his wife Dolman passed away from ovarian cancer back in 2010.

“I still communicate with her all the time. It is like, Hey, Nan, you know this, you know that?” he explained in an interview with AARP: The Magazine in 2019.  He believes that when people die, they stay with the people they love. He stated that he didn’t believe in the notion that everything ends when someone dies, emphasizing, “To me, she is still here.”
