Natalie Portman And Benjamin Millepied’s Marriage Is Over After 11 Years

Natalie Portman, 42, quietly filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years Benjamin Millepied, 46, and a rep of the Israeli-American actress has confirmed that they have called off their marriage after eight months of hearings. 

The actress filed the divorce in July and it was finalized only last month. Reportedly, the ex-couple lived together with their children, daughter, Amalia, 7, and Aleph, 12, until the finalization of the split. According to a close source, the divorce comes right after Benjamin was caught red-handed cheating on Natalie. The source added that the entire journey has not been easy for Natalie.

Meanwhile, a friend of the couple stated that initially, it was pretty hard for her, but then her friends showered her with support “that helped her get through the worst of it.” The friend then added “Natalie has just come out of a rough year and she is finally on the other side of it. She has been constantly trying to find joy in her family, friends, and work.” 

Over the last year, the former couple has made several appearances together with their children, indicating how they did not want their split to affect their children. According to another insider, Natalie’s current biggest priority is the “smooth transition for her children.” 

“They both really love their kids and they are trying their best to co-parent them. For them, nothing is more important than being the best co-parents they can be.” 

After Benjhamin’s extramarital affair was exposed, Natalie Portman hasn’t worn her wedding ring. That prompted their fans to speculate a split, however, she did not announce the filing of divorce, nor was the news leaked. So, her fans were completely shocked after hearing the divorce news. 

Reports suggest that divorce was not their initial option, but it became the final one after the two failed to work through the issues. A few months after Benjamin made headlines for cheating on his wife, a source revealed that he did all he could to protect the marriage so that their family could keep moving together, however, Natalie did not agree to it, for her priority had changed to only “protecting her children and their privacy.” 

Since the family dispute, the ex-pair has been focusing on their respective careers by juggling heavy work commitments. Benjamin is the choreographer on Dune: Part Two which starred Timothee Chamalet and Zendaya, while Natalie has completed myriad projects including the filming of ‘Fountain of Youth’ and the press promotion for her much-acclaimed performance in ‘May December.’ She has also been pretty much active in her soccer team, Angel City, and currently, the Oscar-winning actress also prepping for the release of the limited TV series titled, ‘Lady in the Lake.’

Natalie and Benjamin first met with each other in 2009 on the sets of ‘Balck Swan’ for which he was the choreographer and she was in the art of ballet. Soon they fell for each other and by the time the filming was over, the two became a couple. They got engaged in 2010 and they were already expecting their first child. After giving birth to their son, Aleph, in 2011, Natalie shared wedding vows with Benjamin in 2011 and in 2017, the couple together welcomed their daughter, Amalia.
