Even though Meryl Streep and Martin Short co-stars in “Only Murders in the Building” are both renowned performers, fans still speculate that their friendship may have taken a love turn. Most recently, the couple’s latest visit brought back dating speculations once more.

Streep and Short went to watch “Merrily We Roll Along” on Broadway on Saturday night. The actors not only shared a group shot at the theater but also had backstage meetings with the performers which they acknowledged as a special moment by the cast and crew. One of the show’s actresses, Krystal Joy Brown, shared an Instagram video in which Streep expressed her happiness and praised the performance, calling it “wonderful.” Brown also conveyed her appreciation for the chance to perform in front of legendary actors like Short and Streep. She wrote that it was a dream come true moment for her and the entire cast and crew along with a picture of the three posing together on her social media. 

Even though they are very close, Streep has previously denied having a love relationship, calling them simply “very close friends.” But as they prepare for yet another date night, people are starting to wonder just how serious their love is. Fans are digging into the possibilities of their bond being more than first meets the eye.

The Legendary Actors Spotted At Dinner Date!

Streep and Short were spotted at one of LA’s celeb-heavy restaurants, Giorgio Baldi at the end of last month. Reports confirm that the actors didn’t mind seeing together in public. But Streep and Short were not alone as they were accompanied by a group of friends, which again leaves the fans in confusion. Streep has remained silent regarding the relationship allegations, but Short has quickly put an end to the claims.

Short’s Take On The Dating Rumors

In a January audio episode of Club Random with Bill Maher, the 73-year-old comic shared his opinions on the topic in question. Short and Streep appeared quite friendly at the Golden Globes, prompting the presenter to quip that they were a “power couple.” However, the former Saturday Night Live actor declined to engage in the dating rumors. He said to Maher that they were not a couple but just close friends. Although the coworkers’ friendliness, comfort, and sense of humor seem to make sense to fans, it doesn’t seem like a road they want to take.

Jackie Hoffman, their colleague from “Only Murders in the Building” stated that she used to watch them interact all of the time on the set and felt that it was nothing but “platonic chemistry”. She said that she never felt that they were dating. She also said that as both of them are really good actors, people believed it as they wanted to believe it. Hoffman also commented on their polar opposite personalities and joked that it might not work in real-life romantic situations. She also shared that Short is always on and that she cannot imagine Streep tolerating it.
