Michelle Yeoh Rules Red Carpet In Custom Balenciaga At 2024 Oscars

Michelle Yeon, 61, capped her March 10 red carpet run with a high-drama couture look by the controversial designer brand, Balenciaga. The Malaysian actress arrived at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre to attend the 2024 Oscars in a silver sequinned one-shoulder gown, which made her look like a true definition of ethereal.

Yeoh was announced as the ambassador for the fashion brand last November and she knew very well how to take advantage of being the face of a fashion house. the 2023 Best Actress winner elegantly paired the sparkling gown with matching black opera gloves and a pair of black pointed shoes. 

She finished off the look with a sleek updo and excited her style by carrying menial accessories that included glittery leaf-shaped earrings by Cindy Chao. Her glam included glowy makeup, nude lips, and winged eyeliner. 

Yeoh was one of the Hollywood A-listers who joined the likes of Bad Bunny, Regin King, Zendaya, and others. Her presence at the 96 Academy Awards ceremony comes after her last year’s history-making win in which the saga became the first Asian woman to bag the Oscar for Actress in a Leading Role. She received the accolade for her unmatched performance as Evelyn Wang in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ one of the highly acclaimed multiversal action films that chronicle philosophical themes such as surrealism, nihilism, and absurdism as well as the generational divides that are commonly seen in the Asian-American immigrant families. 

In her acceptance speech, she stated that for all the boys and girls who were looking at her that night, it was evidence of a beacon of hope and possibilities. She added that it was proof that dreams do come true. She then quickly turned to address the ladies present and advised them to never let anyone tell them they were ever past their prime.

Yeoh checks all the right boxes while making a red carpet entry. Last year, she accepted the Oscar wearing a feathered Dior Couture gown. For the occasion, she was styled by celebrity stylist, Johnson Chung, who accessorized her ensemble with a bejeweled headband and matching earrings, both containing statement-making Moussaif diamonds. 

She gave her next best look in 2023 at the Golden Globes in which she wore a gown designed by The Armani Prive. “The Armani Prive is so Armani,” she told the outlet at that time. For the event, she was styled in a sparkly strapless design that accented a peplum detail. “Armani has always been one of my favorites,” she added. 

When asked about her red carpet moment, Yeoh expressed that she had learned fans care about this moment, and she believed it was a part of their profession and parcel of what they do. She mentioned that they get to experience it after delivering a magical movie or creating a world for their fans. She referred to it as an extension of what they do. Yeoh continued by showcasing her gratitude to designers and haute couture, stating they play a major part in making the celebrities almost look like art.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Yeon recently portrayed Eileen “Mama” Sun, in the Netflix-released movie, “The Brothers Sun.”
