Final season of Young Sheldon announced

‘Young Sheldon’ is about to bid goodbye to its binge watchers as the final season is under planning on CBS. The return of the series is considered one of the major 2024 TV schedules. With the end of its prequel ‘Big Bang Theory’ in May, the producers have announced the sequel, which will be the final season of the American coming-of-age sitcom television series. However, fans want to know if Reba McEntire is reprising her role or not.

CBS plans final season for Young Sheldon

In a recent statement, the series EP Steve Holland expressed his hopes to bring back McEntire to the show., saying they would love to call get her back and that the star as also expressed her interest in being a part of the show. But it may not work out as she has another pilot show that is under production, he added.

McEntire’s fans were expressing their desire to get the actress and singer back on the series for its final season. More than for the series to get revived, some viewers were secretly wishing to see the reunion of McEntire with her ‘Reba’ co-star Melissa Peterman. The duo was much appreciated for the incredible performance they delivered throughout the six seasons of the WB/CW sitcom.  Reportedly, their on-screen combination was the reason McEntire landed her role in Young Sheldon.

Holland had previously spoken about how McEntire was a fan of the show. While McEntire and Peterman had appeared in the same episode, they never shared the screen. When asked about the reason, Holland explained that he preserved the duo for the final season.

McEntire appeared in the series as hairdresser June Ballard, the ex-wife of Meemaw’s love interest, Dale, who ends up befriending her ex’s new partner. The character was only seen in the third season of Young Sheldon. Holland believed it would be a travesty if Ballard and Peterman’s Brenda didn’t share the screen until the series came to an end.

Holland remarked that they really want that and that it is just a matter of logistics. Reportedly, the actress is currently serving as a coach on the music reality television show “The Voice.”  A source close to the production team said in a statement that it would be a bit hard for her to film, even if she does not have time to cover a brief moment.

The team will have to reschedule according to her availability. This does not seem possible. She was unable to return for a season due to the filming of ‘Big Sky Season 3.’ Now her schedule is even more packed, so it is hard to get her back on the show, the source concluded.
